Redeploying the propaganda

June 23, 2006

Ariail, the political cartoonist for The State newspaper had an interesting cartoon in the newspaper this week.  He is comparing the Democratic "redeployment" plan to the Republican characterization of it as "cutting and running".  Now, I am a simple minded guy, but what's the difference?

If you "redeploy", aren't you just pulling out the troops?  By this same logic, people don't get fired from thier jobs, they are just transferred to new ones.  This is ridiculous.  Either we stay and finish the job, or we cut and run.  Calling it redeployment just dresses it up a little.  It is just pure propaganda.

But hey, Ariail, thanks for bringing it up.

The terrorist is dead, long live the new terrorist?

June 12, 2006

This past week Americans were greeted with the early morning news that terrorist leader Abu Marsab al-Zarqawi was dead, killed in a bombing by American troops.  And everyone on the left is thrilled, right?  Wrong.  They describe it as something that makes no difference or worse.  So, this begs the question of how the left will react when we finally wake up the morning after Bin Laden is confirmed dead.  If getting the leader means everything in the case of Osama, how can it mean nothing in the case of the Zarqawi?  Or is this just political opportunism?
